Dot MOBI Domain Name Registrations

To meet this demand, the establishment that administers the universal top-level domain name extensions, ICANN, introduced the dot MOBI domain extension in 2005. The first registrations were enabled in September 2006, and the notion behind this TLD is that all websites that use it should comply with certain regulations. In other words, all dot MOBI websites must be created to be accessed properly by mobile devices in accordance with the so-called “MWI Best Practices for mobile content” formulated by the W3C Mobile Web Initiative (MWI) in partnership with the dot MOBI Registry organization. These incorporate how a website is being navigated, the way it is being displayed (form and size), and so on.

The restrictions have induced some concerns taking into account that the universal domain name extension is the only one that specifies what devices must be able to access a website and the way in which this has to happen, breaking the so-called principles of device independence, according to which a site should be created in such a way as to be viewed by most browser applications and devices, be they mobile or stationary.

Because the dot MOBI Registry organization does not register domains directly, you can book a dot MOBI domain with any third-party company, such as ours.
